Pratham Chandramukhi was established in August 2017 with a mission...

Pratham Chandramukhi was established in August 2017 with a mission to support girls who, despite having interest, potentiality are unable to continue their studies due to financial crunch. To begin with there was only 1 beneficiary and 3 contributors. Besides the two of us, our friend Nandita Chatterjee was with us since beginning. After almost 2 and half years, now we have 7 contributors and 7 beneficiaries.  We are happy the way it is growing. Sm Dhriti Sanyal, Head mistress, Bantra Public Library Shiksha Niketan is also helping us a lot. We appreciate her support.

In addition of monthly stipend, we provide partial support for admission to new course and to purchase books.

At present we have 2 school students from Bantra PLSN. Sampa Santra in Class X and Priya Debnath in Class XI. They are getting support since April, 2018. Swikriti Khan, another student from Bantra PLSN passed Madhyamik and joined Howrah Girls’ School in Class XI.  We met Priya and Swikriti last year when they appeared for Madhyamik. Both of them have done well in Madhyamik.

Moumita Adhikary, our 1st beneficiary was in school when we started. Now she is in 2nd yr of Howrah Girls’ College with History Hons.

Saheli Das and Debjani Banerjee are in 2nd year of NSD College with Pol. Sc Hons and B.Com Hons respectively. Swati Dey has passed from ITI. However, Debjani Banerjee has discontinued her study and is not receiving any support for last few months.

We have to restrict ourselves in an area of Howrah as they can be followed up by Nandita Chatterjee and Dhriti Sanyal. We have developed a form also which needs to be filled up by the students during application.

Our mission is named after Sm Chandramukhi Bose who was one of the first female student passing the Entrance Examination from The University of Calcutta, one of the first two female graduates from the same University and and was the first female to receive M. A. degree.
